Key Takeaways

  • Afterpay is available to U.S. residents only, and only at clinics that accept it — ask your coordinator first.
  • Afterpay is the lender. Bookimed does not provide credit, decide approval, or see your credit information.
  • Pay in 4 is interest-free for $1–$2,000. Monthly plans cover $400–$4,000 with an APR of 6.98%–35.99%.
  • If the treatment costs more than your plan covers, you pay the difference directly to the clinic.
  • Your payments continue on schedule even if your treatment date moves or your visa is refused.
  • Monthly payments are not available in Nevada, West Virginia, Hawaii, or New Mexico.

What Is Afterpay?

In brief

Afterpay is the lender and holds the agreement with you. Bookimed is not part of that decision.

Afterpay is a third-party payment service that lets you pay for a medical procedure over time instead of in one payment.

Bookimed is not the lender. We do not provide credit, decide whether you are approved, or see your credit information. Afterpay makes that decision and holds the agreement with you. If you have a question about your plan, your payments, or a charge, Afterpay is the one to contact.

How Does Afterpay Work with Bookimed?

In brief

You apply for an Afterpay plan after getting your offer, pay any difference to the clinic directly, and make your first payment when you book.

  1. You receive an offer. Once you have chosen a clinic and a procedure, your coordinator sends you an offer with the total cost.
  2. You apply to Afterpay for a plan. Not every clinic accepts Afterpay — ask your coordinator before you plan around it.
  3. If the cost is higher than your plan covers, you pay the difference to the clinic yourself. For example, if the procedure costs $6,000 and your plan covers $4,000, you pay the remaining $2,000 directly to the clinic.
  4. You make the first payment when you book. The rest is charged automatically to the card you used, on the dates in your plan.

What Are the Two Payment Plans?

In brief

Pay in 4 is interest-free over six weeks; Monthly Payments spreads the cost over 6 or 12 months with interest.

Pay in 4

Interest-free

Four equal payments over six weeks — 25% at checkout, then 25% every two weeks.

  • Interest-free.
  • Available for amounts from $1 to $2,000.

Monthly Payments

With interest

Six or twelve monthly payments, with interest.

  • APR ranges from 6.98% to 35.99%, depending on your credit profile and your repayment history with Afterpay.
  • Available for amounts from $400 to $4,000.
  • Not available to residents of Nevada, West Virginia, Hawaii, or New Mexico.

Disclaimer: You must be over 18, a resident of the U.S., and meet additional eligibility criteria to qualify. Late fees may apply. Loans to California residents are made or arranged pursuant to a California Finance Lenders Law license. See afterpay.com for complete terms.

What Should I Check Before I Apply?

In brief

Your payments continue on schedule even if your treatment date moves — settle these four questions first.

Medical travel has moving parts, and an installment plan does not move with them. These are worth settling before you commit.

  1. What happens if your treatment date changes.

Clinics sometimes have to move a date, and visas are sometimes refused. Your obligation to Afterpay does not pause because your trip did. Payments continue on the agreed schedule regardless of what happens with your treatment. Ask your coordinator what your clinic's terms are if the date moves.

  2. What your plan actually covers.

A quote is not always the final invoice — materials and additional procedures can be charged separately. If the final cost is higher than your plan, the difference is yours to pay at the clinic. Ask your coordinator for a written breakdown of what is and is not included before you apply. How payment for treatment works, and when a deposit is required, is set out in our Payment and Deposit Terms.

  3. Whether the plan affects your credit.

Ask Afterpay whether your plan is reported to credit bureaus and what happens if a payment is missed. Their terms, not ours, govern this.

  4. Whether the clinic accepts Afterpay at all.

Not all do. Confirm it with your coordinator before you make it part of your plan.

FAQ

Am I eligible?

You must be over 18, a resident of the U.S., and authorized to use a U.S.-issued debit or credit card. Afterpay may run a soft credit check, which does not affect your credit score. The monthly payment plan is not available in Nevada, West Virginia, Hawaii, or New Mexico.

Is approval guaranteed?

No. Afterpay does not approve every application. It considers your consumer credit report and other factors, including how you have repaid previous Afterpay purchases.

Can I use Afterpay for any procedure?

Only at clinics that accept it. Your coordinator can tell you which clinics do.

How is the APR decided?

By Afterpay, based on your credit report and your repayment history with them. We have no part in it.

What if I miss a payment?

Late fees may apply. Check afterpay.com for the current terms, and contact Afterpay directly if you expect a problem — they may be able to reschedule.

What if my treatment is canceled after I have started paying?

Your agreement is with Afterpay, and it continues independently of your treatment. Any refund of what you have paid to the clinic is a separate matter, governed by the clinic's terms — ask your coordinator to confirm those in writing before you travel.

Who do I contact about a payment problem?

Afterpay customer support: info@afterpay.com. For anything about your treatment or your clinic, contact your coordinator.
