PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) is a flapless excimer laser procedure that corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. The procedure is performed at Optimed International Hospital by Ophthalmologist Dr. Yavuz Selim Dogan.

Pre-operative Examination
Before the procedure, your surgeon performs a detailed eye examination to confirm that PRK is the right option for you. This includes:
- Vision and refraction measurement
- Corneal mapping and thickness measurement
- Eye pressure measurement
- Pupil size assessment
- Examination of the retina and the overall health of your eyes
- Consultation with your surgeon

If you are eligible, the procedure can be performed on the same day.

*If you wear contact lenses, you will need to stop wearing them before your examination, usually 2 weeks to 1 month in advance depending on the lens type. Your coordinator will let you know the exact timing for your lenses.

Procedure
We begin with anesthetic eye drops, followed by a local anesthetic to make sure you stay comfortable throughout. Once your eyes are fully numbed, the laser treatment begins. Once your eye is fully numbed, the laser treatment begins. The procedure takes approximately [15-20] minutes for one eye.

What to expect?
- Day 1 (surgery day): Pre-operative examination and surgeon consultation, followed by the procedure. After the procedure, you return to your hotel and rest.
- Days 1-3: Rest is recommended. Vision becomes clearer gradually, and mild discomfort or light sensitivity is normal.
- After day 3: Most patients return to their normal daily routine. Vision continues to sharpen over the following weeks.

Follow-up check-ups
Staying for follow-ups is not mandatory, but if you prefer to stay, we can arrange a check-up on Day 2 (the day after surgery) and a final check-up on Day 3, before you travel abroad.

Accommodation
Hotel is not included in the package, and the choice is yours. We work with partner 3, 4 and 5-star hotels and can arrange special rates for our patients.
