Dr. Kim Taekhyeon is a gastrointestinal surgeon and the Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery at Naeun Hospital. He received his M.D. and M.S. from Chung-Ang University College of Medicine. He completed an internship at Sungae Hospital and a general surgery residency at Chung-Ang University Hospital. He then finished a fellowship in gastrointestinal surgery at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital. He previously served as an attending surgeon at Gwangmyeong Sungae Hospital.
His research covers survivin and HSP90 in colorectal cancer, second primary cancers in patients with gastric cancer, and Borrmann type IV gastric carcinoma. He reported outcomes of laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal inguinal hernia repair in 92 cases. His clinical practice includes cancers and diseases of the stomach, esophagus, and small bowel. He also treats hernias, gallstones and cholecystitis, appendicitis, anal disease, varicose veins, and burns.
Dr. Park Sundo is a specialist in gastrointestinal and general surgery at Naeun Hospital. His expertise includes colorectal, proctology, breast, thyroid, laparoscopic, biliary, pancreatic, and pediatric surgery.
Key treatments include proctologic surgery, such as hemorrhoidectomy and care for hemorrhoids and anal fistula. He performs laparoscopic surgery for gallstones (cholelithiasis) and appendicitis. His oncology care covers gastric and colorectal cancer. He also performs hernia repair. Breast and thyroid care includes treatment of tumors and Mammotome biopsy. Professor Kim Hyun-hoe is a urologic cancer surgeon. He specializes in prostate and kidney cancer and robotic surgery. He directs Myongji Hospital’s Robotic Surgery Center and the Prostate & Kidney Cancer Center. He performed Korea’s first single-incision laparoscopy. At SNUH, he led more than 2,300 da Vinci cases over five years. He now uses the da Vinci Xi system.
He holds an MD, MS, and PhD from Seoul National University. He is a former director of SNUH Robotic Surgery and the Urology/Prostate Cancer Center. He is a past president of the Korean Society of Endourology and Robotics. He is a council member of the Korean Urological Association. His awards include the WCE Best Laparoscopy/Robotic Paper and the KUA Best Paper. He has also received several national academic honors. He contributes to next‑generation da Vinci research with Seoul National University and Intuitive Surgical. This was the first such collaboration in Asia.
Professor Lee Seok-gu is a leading liver transplant surgeon at Myongji Hospital. He has performed about 2,000 liver transplants. He achieved Korea’s first transfusion-free liver transplant. He performed hepatocyte transplantation in a one-month-old infant. He led the first clinical use of a bioartificial liver for acute liver failure. He also performed living-donor transplants in Egypt and trained teams in Vietnam.
He is Professor of Surgery at Myongji Hospital and former Director of the Organ Transplantation Center at Samsung Medical Center. He earned his MD and MSc from Seoul National University and his PhD from the Catholic University of Korea. He completed a fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard and transplant training at Johns Hopkins. He served as president of three national societies in transplantation and pediatric surgery. His honors include the Chong Kun Dang Award, the Pfizer Clinical Medicine Award, and the Astellas Investigator Award. He has 447 publications and 13 book chapters.
