My primary concern before traveling for a PET-CT with Gallium 68 was the logistical side of things and whether every step would be clearly explained and executed in a new medical system. These worries proved to be entirely unfounded. The entire process was managed with clear and direct communication from the staff and the surgeon, which made a significant difference. The clinic's organization was evident. Everything was handled systematically, and each stage of the diagnostic procedure was laid out for me beforehand, so there were no surprises. The approach was very professional. but I can confirm that this part of my medical journey was managed with thorough competence.

The care I received on-site was excellent
The most important thing for future patients to know is to be prepared for new realities. I came ready for a laser enucleation operation for my medium-sized prostate, but I ended up undergoing a steam ablation procedure instead after my consultation. My surgeon was very good. He clearly explained the urination improvement timeline, which was quite reassuring as I begin my recovery. Although there has been little contact from the clinic since I left, the care I received on-site was excellent. My main advice is to go in with an open mind, as your final treatment plan might be different from what you initially expected.

My journey felt "perfect"
What stood out most was the surgeon's personal approach. He showed me exactly what would be removed and set very realistic expectations for weight loss, which built a lot of trust. He even visited me personally after my sleeve gastrectomy. My journey felt "perfect". The care was solid. The main challenge was communication, as the "language could improve" among some team members. From a practical standpoint, the final bill had no surprises or additional expenses. I stayed in the hospital for more than six nights, and the clinic has remained easy to reach since I left, which is a great support during this recovery phase.

Prof. Dr. Engin Tutar is a senior Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Specialist with extensive clinical, academic, and teaching experience in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and nutritional disorders in children.

Born in Istanbul in 1964, Prof. Dr. Tutar completed his secondary education at Istanbul Erkek Lisesi and graduated from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1988. He completed his specialization in Pediatrics at Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital in 1993, followed by subspecialty training in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, which he completed in 2006.

He pursued a long-standing academic career at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, where he was appointed Associate Professor of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition in 2014 and Professor in 2020. He also served as the Head of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine.

Prior to his academic career at Marmara University, Prof. Dr. Tutar worked at Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital, where he served as Deputy Clinical Chief and Acting Clinical Chief between 2010 and 2012.

Throughout his academic career, he has contributed to both national and international scientific literature and has delivered more than 50 presentations at congresses, courses, and professional society meetings.

Prof. Dr. Tutar retired from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in May 2024 and has been accepting patients at Hisar Hospital Intercontinental since June 2024.
