How Much Does Back lift Cost in Thailand in AUD?

A back lift in Thailand typically costs between AUD $5,004 / ฿A170,152 and AUD $9,294 / ฿A315,996. Final pricing depends on whether the surgeon targets the upper or lower back, the amount of skin removed, and the clinic location. Patients save around 49% compared to the average Australian price of AUD $14,012 / ฿A476,425. High-standard packages in Bangkok often include surgeon fees, hospital stays, pre-operative tests, and compression garments.

  • Upper back lift: focuses on the bra-line area to remove excess skin folds.
  • Lower back lift: frequently performed as part of a more extensive 360 belt lipectomy.
  • Back liposuction: adding this technique for better contouring typically increases the base price by 20–30%.
  • Geographic variations: Medical hubs like Bangkok and Phuket serve the highest international patient volumes.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand offers exceptional value through hospital scale and efficiency. Yanhee International Hospital handles 450,000 patients annually and maintains Thai Hospital Accreditation. This high volume allows for competitive pricing without compromising on safety standards. For Australians, choosing JCI-accredited facilities like Asia Cosmetic Hospital ensures quality systems are independently audited. Many clinics, such as ID Clinic Bangkok, list Australians among their most frequent international visitors.

Data verified by Bookimed as of June 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 93 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care
Monsplaty, Tummy Tuck and 360 Liposuction. My biggest concern going into this was what the recovery would actually feel like. It's not easy. The most challenging part has definitely been the constant tight feeling, which is something to be prepared for. My surgeon used a combination of liposuction and excision. Right now there is still some swelling, so it’s too early to know how my clothes will fit differently in the end. Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care. It was a professional and supportive environment, and I'm glad I made the choice to go there.
Very clean, very inviting. After care was good too. Everything was quick and easy. Communication via whatsapp made things easier as well. I travelled solo and the staff helped that little extra.
After surgery garments are not forgiving for us longer torso people. They were a bit short which added a lil discomfort when it rolled at the back. Other than that everything was really good.

Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected
Seeing the surgical site for the first time was the moment everything finally felt real. Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected. We used the penile inversion technique, and while the results look promising, the recovery requires a lot of patience and steady commitment to the healing process. My biggest challenge at this stage is definitely the physical discomfort of being seated for a long time. It is a process. The clinic staff has been very attentive during my stay, and I am expecting to have the catheter removed very soon. To anyone else preparing for this surgery, it’s not easy but it is a good experience overall.

I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic
My biggest worry was how the results would actually look and feel afterward. Now that I'm in the early stages of recovery from the fat transfer graft, I can say the outcome is positive. The girth is already noticeably thicker. Everything is still slightly numb, as expected, but the visual change is definitely there. The surgeon and the entire staff were professional and clear with all information, which helped manage my concerns from the beginning. It's a relief. Based on the care I received and the initial results, I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic.

The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all
My biggest fear was the recovery, and it’s certainly a process that requires patience. The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all. Right now, my chin is still very swollen, so I can't properly see the projection from the large, solid silicone implant yet. The numbness has been the hardest part. My lower lip feels slightly numb, which has made eating the biggest challenge so far. It’s a strange sensation. Despite the temporary side effects of healing, the care I received was solid and I would recommend this clinic.
Really loved the stuff they were very cute and helpful

My breathing is now even better than before
My biggest concern was that the result might look unnatural or that my breathing might be affected. Neither of these things happened. In fact, my breathing is now even better than before. During the open rhinoplasty, a small bump was removed and the bridge of my nose is now, even so soon after the procedure, already straighter, just as I wanted. In addition, the tip of my nose already looks much more defined. The staff and the surgeon were consistently supportive and answered all my questions patiently, which gave me a great deal of reassurance. I felt I was in good hands.

The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations
Waking up, I felt groggy but managed. The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations. The incision was placed under the breast, which is what I wanted. I am still in the early recovery phase, and it has its challenges. My pain has lessened to a mild discomfort, but sleeping through the night is difficult, and my nipples are uncomfortably hypersensitive. Overall, the medical care was solid, though the recovery process itself is demanding. It’s a serious undertaking.
Coordinator was very nice keeping in touch before and after the surgery and the doctor and nurses were very nice

The surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant
I was really worried about the recovery period, and the truth is it hasn’t been as easy as I expected. My stomach is still swollen, and the compression garments are still tight, but the hardest part so far has been dealing with the annoying numb patches. That said, the surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant. The doctor explained to me that he used ultrasound technology (VASER) and removed between 3 and 4 litres of fat, and I felt I was in safe hands with them. Unfortunately, the clinic’s facilities weren’t up to the same standard as the quality of medical care, which is why I’ve given it a lower rating. Overall, I’m optimistic about the final result.
The medical and nursing staff are truly exceptional

My surgeon was excellent, a definite 5/5
If you're considering a tummy tuck, know that the recovery is a real process. My surgeon was excellent, a definite 5/5. He performed a full tuck and repositioned my belly button, and everything already feels very tight, which is good. My biggest challenge right now is the compression garment; it's just a constant presence. While the surgeon was fantastic, there were some minor organizational points with the clinic and staff that could have been smoother. It's still too early to see the final flat result with all the healing left to do, but I feel confident in my choice. I would give this clinic a 9/10 recommendation to a friend.
The doctor he is excellent .soft spoken ,attentive and a great surgeon.
Rooms could be bigger so that attendant could stay at night. They have a reclining sofa not suitable for night sleeping. Front desk managers could be more attentive to every detail.

The surgeon and the staff were fantastic from start to finish
My biggest worry was whether I'd see a real difference after having Vaser on multiple areas, especially since they removed over four liters. It’s still early, but the swelling is much less now, and I can definitely see subtle changes taking shape. The surgeon and the staff were fantastic from start to finish. They are a solid team. The main challenge for me is just the compression garment making my skin itchy, but that's part of recovery. While the clinic facilities were generally fine, they weren't on the same level as the medical care itself. It's a process. Overall, I feel this was a worthwhile decision.
Almost 2 weeks post-lipo with Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic. The bruising is fading and my clothes are fitting so much better already. My abdomen feels tighter, waist more defined, and inner thighs no longer rubbing as much when I walk. So happy I took this step for myself.

The initial appearance is honestly better than expected, even with all the healing that’s still to come
The initial appearance is honestly better than expected, even with all the healing that’s still to come. Seeing that was a huge relief. The surgeon and staff provided great support, making me feel secure from the start. Recovery is no joke. It was a positive step when the catheter was removed, but managing the dilation sessions has been very challenging. My biggest concern is the swelling, and I'm focused on trusting the process. The care and the surgical foundation are solid, which is why I'm rating everything positively.
Everything was perfect. The staff were kind, professional, and very supportive throughout the whole process. The doctor explained everything clearly and made me feel comfortable and cared for. The clinic was clean, organized, and exceeded my expectations. I’m very happy with my experience and grateful for the excellent care I received.
Nothing to complain about. Everything went smoothly and I was satisfied with the overall experience.

I can already see the lifted shape has great projection, which is what I was hoping for
My biggest concern going into this was ending up with a shape that looked strange or unnatural. It's a big decision. I'm still very early in my recovery, but I can already see the lifted shape has great projection, which is what I was hoping for. The surgeon and I decided on Motiva implants. The clinic staff and my surgeon were consistently professional and clear in their communication. The most difficult part for me right now is the significant implant tightness across my chest; it's a persistent discomfort you should be prepared for. It's a process. But the surgical work and care were very good.
I had my surgery at this clinic and I’m honestly very happy with the whole experience. From the first consultation to aftercare, everything was handled professionally and smoothly. The team was incredibly supportive and made me feel comfortable and confident every step of the way. A special thank you to the nurse for being so caring, kind, and attentive — it really made a big difference during my recovery. The results have exceeded my expectations, and I truly appreciate the effort and care from the entire team. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone considering surgery.

My biggest worry going into this was the quality of post-operative care, and that's where things fell short. While the surgeon's work was professional, the support from the clinic staff felt disorganized and was a source of stress during a vulnerable time. The clinic itself could also be improved. It’s a very mixed feeling. I can’t judge the aesthetic outcome yet because everything is still far too swollen to see clearly. On a positive note, getting the catheter removed was a definite relief and a good milestone. The medical part was handled, but the care aspect was lacking.
Language was a problem. Food was horrible, no attempt to take into account cultural differences. Had to wait over an hour for scheduled appointments. Minimal care by all. I would not recommend Wansiri Hospital to any of my friends. Staff would not reach out to my wife, when requested, to resolve problems.

I can honestly say the initial appearance is better than expected
My biggest worry was what the final result would look like. I can honestly say the initial appearance is better than expected. The surgeon used the penile inversion technique, and both the surgeon and the staff have been excellent. Recovery is, of course, a challenge. The catheter is manageable with proper care, and I am following the dilation schedule as instructed, but sitting for long periods is currently very difficult. It’s a real process. For anyone else getting ready for this, my advice is to be calm ☺️ and be happy for the wonderful physical change coming your way!

The surgeon and staff were very capable and provided solid care from start to finish
The main thing I worried about was the recovery, and it is definitely a process. At 15 days post-op, sleeping on my back is hard, and the pain is still moderate, though it's manageable. It's not easy. I’m glad that my nipple sensitivity feels normal, which was a specific concern since my surgeon used an incision around the nipple. The surgeon and staff were very capable and provided solid care from start to finish. My best advice for anyone else is what got me through the tougher moments: have patience and trust the procedure.
Very warm gesture I have been experienced from doctor and staff very cooperative and responsible.

The staff were fantastic and supportive through every step
I am noticing some subtle changes to my contour, which is encouraging. The staff were fantastic and supportive through every step. The surgeon was professional, though I had minor reservations. My main issue was with the clinic on the surgery side itself; the facilities felt a bit outdated and could use an upgrade. For that reason, my recommendation score is a 7. The people are wonderful, but the physical clinic has room for improvement.

FAQ about Back lift in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the health risks of flying home to Australia after a back lift in Thailand?

Flying home to Australia too soon after a back lift in Thailand increases the risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Long-haul flights cause immobility, which may lead to blood clots. Lower cabin pressure and dry air can also delay wound healing or cause incisions to open.

  • Clotting risks: Long-haul immobility increases the danger of venous thromboembolism after major body contouring.
  • Wound strain: Aeroplane seating and lifting luggage can pull on large back incisions.
  • Increased swelling: Changes in cabin pressure often worsen post-operative swelling and physical discomfort.
  • Infection access: Travelling with drains or fresh dressings limits access to immediate specialist care.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume centres like Yanhee International Hospital with 180 doctors handle thousands of international patients. Data shows that clinics with JCI accreditation, such as Bumrungrad, maintain strict protocols for flight clearance. These centres often require a 14 to 21-day stay before approving long-distance travel. This helps ensure incisions are stable.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand suggest booking airport wheelchair assistance and porter services to avoid straining back muscles. They also emphasise using compression stockings and performing calf exercises during the flight home to Australia.

What steps should I take if I experience medical complications after returning to Australia from my back lift in Thailand?

If medical complications occur after a back lift in Thailand, patients must seek immediate help from an Australian GP or emergency department. Notifying the Thai surgical team quickly is essential for coordinating care. Warning signs include fever, unexpected pain, or fluid leakage from surgical incisions.

  • Emergency care: Visit the nearest emergency department for severe pain or shortness of breath.
  • GP consultation: Book an urgent appointment to manage minor infections or wound healing issues locally.
  • Surgeon notification: Inform the Thai clinic team to discuss clinical findings and necessary follow-up steps.
  • Documentation: Keep records of all medications, photos of symptoms, and communications with international providers.
  • Insurance review: Check if travel insurance covers complications, as many standard policies exclude elective surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Major Bangkok centres like Yanhee or Bumrungrad employ 1,000+ doctors and provide free English interpreters for follow-ups. Clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital report extremely low complication rates. Still, these large facilities have established protocols for assisting remote patients. Accreditation from the JCI (Joint Commission International) ensures they maintain communication channels for international post-operative support.

Are surgeons who perform back lift procedures in Thailand board-certified?

Most reputable surgeons performing back lift procedures in Thailand are board-certified by the ThPRS (Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand). High-tier specialists often hold credentials from the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand. Many also belong to international bodies like ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery).

  • Hospital credentials: Leading facilities such as Yanhee International Hospital hold JCI accreditation and Royal College recognition.
  • Specific certifications: Look for ThPRS or ThSAPS (Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons of Thailand) memberships.
  • International training: Specialists like Dr Kittichai Sipiyarak at Yanhee hold American Society of Plastic Surgeons memberships.
  • Clinical oversight: Clinics such as Asia Cosmetic Hospital have surgeons work alongside anaesthetists and cardiologists.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bookimed data shows a clear link between high-volume hospitals and elite credentialing. For instance, Yanhee International serves 450,000 patients annually and employs 180 doctors. These doctors hold extensive Thai board certifications and international fellowships. Choosing these JCI-accredited hubs ensures access to surgeons who undergo regular peer reviews.

Patient Consensus: Patients travelling to Thailand often highlight the reassurance found in English-speaking staff. They also value the clear display of international medical certifications. The seamless process in Bangkok clinics makes the surgical journey feel professional and highly organised.

How long is the recommended stay in Thailand following a back lift surgery?

Surgeons in Thailand typically recommend staying 7 to 10 days after a back lift. Most patients need 14 days for recovery before a long flight to Australia. This allows for drain removal, wound healing, and monitoring of the surgical site.

  • Minimum duration: Stay at least 7 days for check-ups and drain removal.
  • Flying safety: Stays of 14 days help reduce deep vein thrombosis risks.
  • Activity levels: Patients perform gentle walking but avoid heavy lifting for two weeks.
  • Clinical clearance: Surgeons at Yanhee International Hospital provide travel clearance after wound reviews.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like Bumrungrad International often serve patients from over 190 countries. Their specialists suggest a 14-day buffer because back lift incisions are under constant tension. A shorter stay increases the risk of wound separation during long flights.

Patient Consensus: Visitors to Thailand suggest booking a 2-week stay to ensure drains are out. Schedule the final follow-up before flying to confirm the incision is healing safely.

What is a bra-line back lift procedure in Thailand?

A bra-line back lift in Thailand is a surgery that removes excess skin and fat from the back. Surgeons place horizontal incisions where a bra strap or bikini top sits. This hides scars while smoothing rolls caused by weight loss or ageing.

  • Procedure goals: These lifts remove strips of tissue to tighten the upper and mid-back silhouette.
  • Strategic incisions: Scars are hidden under the bra line to make them less visible in swimwear.
  • Ideal candidates: The surgery suits people with loose skin after significant weight loss.
  • Combined surgeries: Doctors often perform this with breast lifts or reductions for full upper-body contouring.
  • Surgical duration: It generally takes 60–90 minutes under general anaesthesia in accredited Bangkok facilities.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many Australian patients focus on the A$13,550 average local cost, Thailand offers back lifts from $3,500. These take place at JCI-accredited centres like Yanhee or Asia Cosmetic Hospital. These busy hospitals treat over 400,000 patients annually. Surgeons there often see more back-lift cases in a month than many private specialists see in a year.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand note that the trade-off for a smoother back is a long horizontal scar. They recommend confirming scar placement with the surgeon first. They also suggest allowing enough time for local follow-up before flying back to Australia.

Who is considered a suitable candidate for a back lift in Thailand?

Suitable candidates for a back lift in Thailand are typically healthy adults with loose, hanging skin. The procedure targets bra rolls and sagging tissue from weight loss or ageing. Candidates must maintain a stable weight for at least three months.

  • Skin laxity: Ideal for those with skin folds or rolls over the bra line.
  • Weight stability: Candidates should be at a stable target weight for long-term results.
  • Post-weight loss: Commonly sought 6–12 months after gastric surgery once weight stabilises.
  • Health status: Requires good general health to undergo surgery in JCI-accredited facilities like Bumrungrad International.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bangkok is a hub for high-volume centres like Yanhee International Hospital. This hospital treats 450,000+ patients annually. Experienced surgeons here include Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul, who has performed 20,000+ procedures. These specialists often prioritise skin-only lifts. If your concern is fat rather than loose skin, surgeons may recommend liposuction.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand report that this procedure fixes bulging under fitted tops and bras. Many suggest confirming if your concern is excess skin or fat before travelling.

Can I combine my back lift surgery in Thailand with a holiday?

Combining a back lift in Thailand with a holiday is a common choice for Australians. Patients can typically fly home within 10 days. Most schedule active sightseeing before the procedure. This is followed by a quiet, resort-based recovery to manage surgical sites and incisions safely.

  • Safety standards: Leading Bangkok hospitals like Yanhee and Bumrungrad hold JCI accreditation for international safety.
  • Planning strategy: Schedule strenuous activities first as post-op recovery requires 7–10 days of rest.
  • Professional support: Clinics like Yanhee International Hospital provide free interpreters and English-speaking staff for Australians.
  • Typical costs: Surgery ranges from $3,500 to $6,500, saving up to 58% over Australian averages.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai hospitals operate on a scale rarely seen in Australia. Yanhee International Hospital treats 450,000 patients annually with 180 doctors on-site. This high volume means surgeons like Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul have performed 20,000+ procedures. This experience often leads to refined surgical results and smoother recovery protocols for international visitors.

Patient Consensus: Travellers find that staying near the clinic for the full recovery period makes the trip home easier. Having a dedicated English-speaking coordinator helps link hospital care with relaxing at a local resort.
