What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it
What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it. My biggest fear was not understanding the treatment plan or feeling rushed, but that wasn’t the case at all. The dentist was very patient and took the time to explain each step to me in detail. It was reassuring. The overall organisation ran smoothly and the whole clinic team were professional and happy to answer my questions. Coordination via Bookimed simplified the whole process, which helped reduce the stress of having a medical appointment abroad. I left with clear information and a good overall impression.

I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism
Hello everyone, like many other people before an operation, I wasn't feeling very well. The staff at the clinic immediately reassured and accompanied me. Believe me or not, I didn't feel a thing. The dental surgeon fitted the 2 implants in 40 minutes, and I had no infections whatsoever. My Bookimed advisor (Péguy) was with me from the start and is still with me today. I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism. Sylvain B.

The wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care
It is a clean hospital and the wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care. The dentist and dental personnel can speak fluent English which is important for most people like I. For wisdom teeth extraction the cost was 20000 baht for 4 teeth( including medication and nurse charge), but it all depends if the teeth has impacted. I would highly recommend the clinic.

FAQ about Orthodontic extrusion in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the risks and potential complications of orthodontic extrusion in Thailand?

Orthodontic extrusion in Thailand is generally safe. It carries risks like root resorption, pulpal necrosis, and relapse. Specialists at JCI-accredited Bangkok clinics mitigate these through CBCT 3D imaging. Success relies on healthy root length and sufficient bone levels for stable tooth movement.

  • Root resorption: Pressure may dissolve roots if specialists apply excessive force during tooth movement.
  • Pulpal necrosis: Moving teeth can cut off blood flow. This might require further root canal treatment.
  • Relapse risk: Teeth often attempt to move back. This makes long-term retention and stabilisation essential.
  • Bone loss: Patients with over 50% bone loss risk tipping instead of proper vertical extrusion.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bangkok clinics like Bangkok International Dental Center serve 15,000+ patients annually. They often hold JCI and ISO certifications. This high volume means specialists there have handled virtually every case type. Patients should choose clinics where orthodontists and prosthodontists work together for seamless planning.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand find coordinated care between orthodontists and restorative dentists prevents planning mismatches. Clear handover plans are vital for Australians who need local monitoring for relapse and root health.

Why would an Australian patient require orthodontic extrusion in Thailand?

Australian patients require orthodontic extrusion in Thailand to save damaged teeth from extraction. This often follows fractures or deep decay. The procedure pulls a tooth further out of the socket. This creates enough structure for a restorative crown within JCI-accredited clinics in Bangkok.

  • Subgingival fractures: Exposes broken tooth structure below the gumline to allow for crown placement.
  • Crown lengthening: Increases height for teeth too short to hold a secure restorative crown.
  • Implant preparation: Stimulates bone and gum tissue growth before placing a permanent dental implant.
  • Impacted teeth: Corrects teeth pushed into the gumline due to trauma or failed eruption.
  • Cost efficiency: Procedures cost $800 to $1,400, saving 45% over Australian averages.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bangkok International Dental Center serves over 15,000 patients annually. It maintains official partnerships with Swiss manufacturers like Straumann. This provides Australian patients with the same high-grade materials used at home at a fraction of the $2,000 price.

Patient Consensus: Patients often choose Thailand for plans where orthodontists and restorative specialists work together. They successfully avoid extractions by seeking second opinions. These opinions prioritise conservative, tooth-saving treatments over implants.

How long is the recovery and treatment timeline for orthodontic extrusion in Thailand?

Orthodontic extrusion in Thailand usually takes 4 to 8 weeks for active tooth movement. A 4 to 8-week stabilisation period then follows. Most patients receive a final crown or restoration after about 3 months. Leading Bangkok clinics use JCI-accredited protocols to manage this healing process.

  • Active extrusion: The tooth moves into position over 4 to 8 weeks.
  • Stabilisation phase: A fixed wire immobilises the tooth for another 4 to 8 weeks.
  • Final restoration: Permanent crowns are typically placed after 3 months of total healing.
  • Aftercare protocol: Use 0.12% chlorhexidine rinses for 2 weeks to prevent localised infections.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bangkok International Dental Centre serves 15,000+ patients annually and maintains JCI accreditation. Their specialists often use original Straumann materials. These are highly compatible with Australian dental standards. This makes any follow-up care required back in Australia straightforward for local dentists.

Patient Consensus: Patients highlight the need to plan travel around wire adjustments and follow-up imaging. Many suggest asking clinics for a complete timeline before booking flights to accommodate each phase.

What is included in a standard orthodontic treatment package at a Thai dental clinic?

Standard orthodontic packages in Thailand typically cover the full treatment lifecycle. This starts from digital diagnostic scans through to final appliance removal. Most reputable Bangkok clinics bundle specialist consultations, X-rays, and regular adjustments into one fixed price. Costs range from $800 to $1,400. This offers around 58% savings compared to Australia.

  • Diagnostic records: Includes panoramic X-rays, cephalometric scans, and 3D dental impressions or digital moulds.
  • Appliance fitting: Covers the attachment of metal brackets, wires, or clear aligner sets.
  • Adjustment visits: Regular monthly appointments for tightening wires or aligner tray progressions.
  • Retention phase: Custom-made retainers to secure teeth in position after appliance removal.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basic diagnostics are standard, but complex procedures like orthodontic extrusion often cost extra. Data from specialised centres like SmileBox Dental Clinic shows clinics frequently include emergency bracket repairs. This is a crucial benefit for international patients needing urgent care during their holiday.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that Thai clinics provide clear written breakdowns of adjustment and retention protocols. Many appreciated that digital X-rays and English-speaking specialist consultations were included in the base price.

How should an Australian patient manage follow-up appointments for orthodontic extrusion in Thailand?

Australian patients manage orthodontic extrusion follow-up through a hybrid care model. This involves a 4-day initial stay in Thailand and coordination with a local GP or orthodontist. This covers appliance checks, documentation handover, and long-term monitoring of health and root positioning once home.

  • Initial stay: Stay in Thailand for 4+ days for bracket placement and initial adjustments.
  • Documentation transfer: Secure all X-rays and treatment plans for the local Australian dental provider.
  • Hybrid coordination: Identify an Australian orthodontist before travel to manage ongoing progress checks.
  • Monitoring period: Budget for a 3-month healing phase to check no root resorption occurs.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bangkok International Dental Center performs over 15,000 procedures annually and holds JCI accreditation. Their 70+ specialists frequently handle international handovers. Patients save up to 45% compared to the $2,000 Australian average. This often offsets the cost of local follow-up fees.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand recommend getting a written schedule of all required visits and adjustments. Confirming emergency contact protocols before flying home helps manage any bracket or wire issues effectively.
