How Much Does Teeth Cleaning (Scaling) Cost in Republic of Korea in AUD?

Teeth cleaning (scaling) in the Republic of Korea typically costs from AUD $143 to AUD $285. Prices vary based on the clinic tier, whether you require deep cleaning for gum disease, and if x-rays are needed. In Australia, this procedure costs AUD $285 on average. Australian patients can save approximately 50% by visiting specialised clinics in Seoul or Daegu.

  • Deep cleaning (gingival scaling): typically costs 50–100% more than standard preventative scaling.
  • Diagnostic fees: initial consultations and mandatory x-rays often add 20–40% to the base price.
  • Specialised hubs: clinics in Seoul districts like Gangnam may charge a 15–20% premium over regional centres.
  • Hospital tier: university hospitals often have higher base fees than private local dental clinics.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Paying a slight premium in Seoul often secures board-certified specialists and advanced technology. Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic, for example, offers professional whitening and scaling packages for approximately A$500. This is popular with Australians seeking a complete smile refresh. Larger centres like Sinchon Dain Dental Hospital serve over 33,000 patients annually, offering high-efficiency care for international travellers.

Set aside more money for the treatment than is stated. Taxes were added on top at the clinic, and the dental cleaning also costs extra. I ended up with additional costs of around $100.
It was very easy to book the appointment, and on the day of the treatment everything went really quickly. Within an hour, my teeth were beautifully whitened.
One negative aspect was the lack of transparency regarding the costs. The description of the treatment suggested that, for $370, you would receive three sessions of bleaching plus a professional teeth clean. However, when I got there, I had to pay extra for the teeth cleaning, and on top of that, a hefty amount of tax was suddenly added to the total price, which meant the whole thing ended up costing nearly $100 more. Fortunately, I don’t trust anything, so I’d already factored in additional costs when planning my budget. Even so, it would be nice to be able to estimate the costs in advance.
