I was escorted from the hotel to the clinic where I met my interpreter Ismail, he was a very kind and respectful person who accompanied me throughout the day in the hospital and gave me all the details and also communicated between me and all the doctors. Overall, we were very happy with the care my father received
My father’s medical experience with Memorial Şişli was great. Everything was well-organized, and we felt supported throughout the entire process. The doctor was professional, knowledgeable, and patient in explaining every detail, which reassured us that my father was in good hands. I was also really impressed by how quickly everything was arranged. There were no unnecessary delays, and the entire medical service was coordinated seamlessly. Our online medical coordinator was always available whenever we had questions, making the whole process much easier. Having a interpreter readily available was a huge help as well—they were efficient and made communication effortless. The hospital was spotless, and cleanliness was clearly a top priority, which gave us even more peace of mind. Overall, we were very happy with the care my father received. The professionalism and efficiency of the entire team made a real difference, and I would highly recommend the hospital to anyone seeking quality medical care abroad.

Literally brought back to life in a few days!
This clinic helped me a lot! Literally brought back to life in a few days! An incredible team of nurses, nursing staff, and support staff who are all very attentive and positive! And it’s very comfortable in the rooms. The doctor confidently proposed a treatment plan that worked quickly and effectively! A few days later, I felt that the disease had died in me!) Thanks to the doctor and staff! I confidently recommend the Anadolu Clinic to my friends!
On the strong medical side, we also need to mention the excellent service: transfer and hotels offered.
It is very difficult to travel the road from Ukraine to Turkey. Once there was a smoky hotel, it was very unpleasant

An out-of-date price list of hotels was sent, because of which the hotel was booked at one price, and upon arriving at the hotel I was forced to pay a higher price (not 65, but 85 euros per day...).

"We are very grateful for life and treatment!"
We went to the clinic with a diagnosis of stomach cancer. In the process of refining the tests, the correct diagnosis was made - lymphoma (thanks to the doctors! They are superb!) And treatment was prescribed. The first chemotherapy was done in the clinic, the rest - in Kharkov with Turkish medicines. Two months later, the results of PET CT showed good dynamics of treatment. We continue to be treated according to the prescriptions of the Turkish doctor Hussein. We had an excellent translator, Maksud, who was always in touch, responsive and offered the best solutions to our problems. We were satisfied with the place of settlement (the Serenity hotel is very good in terms of comfort). But everything else: logistics (you wait for an hour or more for transport, but sometimes it is not there), lack of reaction from Irada (does not answer calls and does not get in touch), ignorance of English by the medical staff in the hospital and the staff in the hospital restaurant, poor competence of the nursing staff (injections in A vein can be done by 2 people per department, the rest of the nurses wave their hands and run for help: once the vein was injected 16 times !!! For beginners, we want to warn you: the prices that are shown to you according to your documents after a remote consultation with doctors must be multiplied several times: for one day just a hospital stay - $ 350, this is without drugs. Medicines in the hospital are also very different in price (upwards) from the pharmacy in Istanbul. On the whole, our goal has been almost achieved, the doctors are very grateful for life and treatment!

The treatment is going well, the doctor is very pleased with the result
Now they have a new method of immunotherapy, instead of 16 hours of transfusion, they make an injection on their stomach under the skin, 15 minutes and it's done. So, 2 hours we’re going back, even the ward is not needed. The treatment is going well, the doctor is very pleased with the result.

Expert Overview about Lymphoma Treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What support services are provided to international patients travelling to Turkey for lymphoma treatment?

International patients receive full logistics and medical coordination. This includes airport-to-clinic transfers, professional language interpreters, and dedicated case management. JCI-accredited centres like Anadolu and Memorial provide specialised support for complex procedures. These include bone marrow transplants and CAR T-cell therapy.

  • Airport transfers: Reliable shuttle or VIP vehicles move patients between the airport, hotel, and clinic.
  • Language assistance: Dedicated interpreters help patients communicate with specialists such as Prof. Dr Zafer Gulbas.
  • Accommodation bundles: Packages at clinics like Medicalpoint International include up to 60 days of hotel stay.
  • Caregiver support: Major centres often allow one accompanying person to stay inpatient with meals included.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Turkish clinics offer basic transfers. However, top-tier centres like Anadolu Medical Center provide extended post-transplant support. Some packages cover services for 110 days after a bone marrow transplant. This level of follow-up is vital for Australian patients managing long recovery windows.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey highlight the vital role of interpreters like Ismail and Maksud. They note that constant language support and well-organised logistics make navigating complex schedules significantly easier.

Are the haematology specialists in Turkey qualified to treat lymphoma?

Haematology specialists in Turkey are highly qualified to treat lymphoma. Many leading doctors hold certifications from the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO). These specialists often train at top US and UK institutions. They use techniques like CAR T-cell therapy and bone marrow transplants.

  • Specialised training: Doctors such as Prof. Zafer Gulbas trained at MD Anderson and Fred Hutch.
  • Specialised treatments: Clinics offer CAR T-cell therapy, targeted immunotherapy, and allogeneic stem cell transplants.
  • Accredited facilities: Major centres like Anadolu Medical Center are JCI-accredited and affiliated with Johns Hopkins.
  • High volume: Leading specialists have performed over 3,000 bone marrow transplants throughout their careers.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkey serves as a primary global hub for complex blood disorders. Specialist experience often exceeds Western averages. For example, Prof. Osman Ilhan has over 50 years of experience and 300 publications. Choosing a university-affiliated hospital provides access to the latest clinical trials and multidisciplinary tumour boards.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that Turkish specialists often correct initial diagnoses from other countries. They appreciate the friendly nurses and use of modern immunotherapy injections that replace long hospital stays.

Which hospitals in Turkey are reputable for lymphoma treatment?

Anadolu Medical Center, Memorial Şişli, and Medical Park are reputable Turkish hospitals for lymphoma. These centres hold Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation. They maintain partnerships with institutions like Johns Hopkins Medicine. These hospitals provide treatments such as CAR T-cell therapy and bone marrow transplants.

  • Anadolu Medical Center: Affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine. It houses Turkey's largest bone marrow transplant centre.
  • Memorial Şişli Hospital: First JCI-accredited hospital in Turkey. It specialises in autologous and allogeneic transplants.
  • Medical Park Group: Includes the Antalya and Bahcelievler hubs. These centres serve Australian patients.
  • Istanbul Florence Nightingale: Offers CAR T-cell therapy. Specialists include Mayo Clinic-trained professionals for complex cases.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Lymphoma packages in Turkey frequently include extended inpatient stays. Some bone marrow transplant packages at Medical Park Antalya bundle 45 hospital days. They also include 90 hotel days. This covers the critical recovery window. It is vital for international patients who cannot fly immediately after a transplant.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that Turkish haematologists often catch misdiagnoses early through in-house pathology. They appreciate the empathetic nursing teams. Patients also value receiving modern immunotherapy injections instead of long transfusions.

What are the primary treatment options available for lymphoma in Turkey?

Turkish haematology centres provide lymphoma care including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and bone marrow transplants. Major hospitals use technologies like Halcyon radiation and CAR T-cell therapy. Specialists like Prof. Dr Zafer Gulbas at Anadolu Medical Center follow American protocols. These are used through Johns Hopkins Medicine affiliations.

  • Stem cell transplants: Clinics perform autologous, allogeneic, and haploidentical transplants for complex relapsed cases.
  • Immunotherapies: Drug-based biological therapies and CAR T-cell treatments target specific cancer cells.
  • Precision diagnostics: Specialists use PET-CT and bone marrow cytogenetics to monitor treatment response.
  • Multi-specialty care: Haematologists and oncologists collaborate to tailor plans for Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish centres often include extended follow-up in transplant packages. These can cover up to 110 days post-procedure. This is vital for international patients, as early recovery monitoring happens on-site. Anadolu Medical Center even offers subcutaneous immunotherapy injections. This reduces a 16-hour transfusion to just 15 minutes.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey value the precision of diagnostic equipment and English-speaking interpreters. Many note that doctors often revise initial diagnoses from home countries. This leads to more effective, targeted treatment plans.

What is the typical duration for lymphoma treatment in Turkey?

Lymphoma treatment in Turkey typically spans 4 to 6 months for chemotherapy. This is administered in 21-day cycles. Autologous stem cell transplants require a 30-day hospital stay. CAR T-cell therapy involves approximately 28 days of inpatient care for monitoring.

  • Chemotherapy cycles: Treatment involves 4–6 cycles. Each period requires rest for recovery.
  • Transplant recovery: Autologous bone marrow transplants often require 80 days of local outpatient monitoring.
  • CAR T-cell therapy: Patients remain in JCI-accredited facilities for roughly 28 days during infusion.
  • Extended follow-up: Some unrelated donor transplant programs include 110 days of post-procedure outpatient services.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish haematology units specialise in fast diagnostic timelines. For example, Anadolu Medical Center often completes pre-transplant investigations within 15 days. This rapid turnaround helps Australian patients reduce their total time abroad. It also lets treatment begin before the disease progresses.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that treatment in Turkey involves multiple visits or extended stays. Many found the process worked quickly. Immunotherapy injections now take only 15 minutes instead of long transfusions. Having a translator available also helped make communication easy.

What questions should I ask a specialist when considering lymphoma treatment in Turkey?

When considering lymphoma treatment in Turkey, ask about the specialist's case volume. Enquire about the multidisciplinary team structure. Confirm if they offer CAR T-cell therapy or specific bone marrow transplant types. Secure details on JCI accreditation and the exact duration of inpatient and outpatient care.

  • Clinical experience: Ask how many lymphoma transplants the centre has performed. For example, Anadolu Medical Center has completed 3,000+ procedures.
  • Treatment options: Enquire about therapies like CAR T-cell or haploidentical transplants available at specialised Istanbul facilities.
  • Team integration: Confirm that a multidisciplinary panel of haematologists, oncologists, and radiologists will manage the case.
  • Logistical support: Clarify if the package includes long-term accommodation. Some Antalya clinics bundle up to 90 hotel nights.
  • Accreditation standards: Verify if the hospital holds JCI or OECI certification. This helps meet international oncological safety protocols.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish haematology units often provide exceptionally long inpatient stays. While Australian patients might expect one week for intensive treatment, some Turkish packages include 28 to 45 days. This extended monitoring is a significant safety benefit for international patients.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that Turkish specialists often correct initial diagnoses through PET-CT imaging. This can change the treatment path. They frequently mention the professionalism of nurses and the helpfulness of dedicated English interpreters.

Why would an Australian patient consider Turkey for lymphoma treatment?

Australian patients choose Turkey for lymphoma treatment to access therapies like CAR T-cell therapy and bone marrow transplants. Turkish centres avoid long waiting lists. Leading clinics maintain Joint Commission International accreditation and affiliations with American institutions. Packages often bundle diagnostics, multi-week hospital stays, and transfers.

  • Specialist expertise: Dr Zafer Gulbas at Anadolu Medical Center has performed over 3,000 bone marrow transplants.
  • Specialised technology: Clinics use Halcyon radiotherapy and PET-CT systems to target and track tumours precisely.
  • Accredited facilities: Major centres like Memorial Sisli and Hisar Hospital hold JCI and ISO certifications.
  • Integrated logistics: Packages often include 30 to 60 days of hospitalisation and VIP airport transfers.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish haematology-oncology centres offer a level of inpatient support rarely found elsewhere. For example, some bone marrow transplant packages at Medical Point International include 60 days of hospitalisation and hotel stay. This extended monitoring is crucial for managing the recovery period after complex stem cell procedures.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey highlight the speed of receiving a definitive diagnosis. This often changes their initial treatment plan. Experience shows that immunotherapy injections are replacing long transfusions. This allows many to recover comfortably in nearby hotels.
